You can also use the Boundary Select tool while holding down the Shift key to select records from multiple rings, rather than just one at a time. The first way uses the Boundary Select tool. This can be done in a couple of different ways. Now that you have the buffers drawn on the map you can create a browser that lists all the items that fall within each buffer. Once you have decided what statistics you wish to include, click OK to return to the Concentric Ring Buffers dialog box. In addition, you can choose whether or not to graph these calculations. All of these values will appear in the browser of the new table. You can also choose which statistics to calculate, whether it be the sum or average or both, as well as whether to count how many points fall within each ring. You can specify which table to calculate the statistics. This tool can calculate the sum and average of any numeric values from the table of points that falls within the rings. Before drawing the rings, click Calculate Ring Statistics. Next, you will need to give the new table a name and specify a location to save it. The higher the number, the smoother the circle will appear. The smoothness refers to how many segments make up the ring that gets drawn. You can also change the style to something that will stand out on your map.
Once you have added all the rings you wish, specify the unit of measurement. Add individual radius values by typing in the box and clicking Add Ring. If it does not appear in the menu, launch Tool Manager and load the tool. Then go to the Tools menu and launch the Concentric Ring Buffers tool. In order to use the concentric ring buffer tool, you must have at least one object selected.
